A Romanian F-16 Shot Down A Maritime Drone Near A Gas Production Platform

A Romanian F-16 fighter jet successfully shot down a maritime drone. The incident occurred 80 miles east of Constanța.

This was reported by “RBC-Ukraine”, citing a statement from the press service of the Romanian Ministry of Defense in H.

As noted by the ministry, on August 20, two F-16s of the Romanian Air Force were scrambled. The reason was that a small maritime drone was detected in Romania’s exclusive economic zone, near the Neptun Alpha platform.

One of the aircraft struck the target with its onboard cannon.

A commercial vessel spotted the drone drifting in the sea at approximately 6:28 a.m. local time.

A Coast Guard vessel carrying a Romanian Navy mine-clearing team is heading toward the drone’s location. The operation to neutralize the drone is ongoing.
