The ruler said that “he needed the truth.”
After a pause of nearly a day, Lukashenko commented on the drone attack on a bus carrying Belarusian children in the Bryansk region. He did not explicitly name the culprit behind the tragedy.
“If someone is provoking us and trying to drag us into a war, I think it will end badly for those who are trying to do so,” Lukashenko was quoted as saying by a Telegram channel close to his press service.
“We’re behaving calmly. Some people don’t like that Belarus is a peaceful country, which is why all this is happening. We hear various statements, excuses, and versions of events. But we need the truth,” he emphasized.
“And we’re waiting for this truth—or a real, fair, and honest answer—from Ukrainian government officials, the military, and the people. We’ll find out the truth anyway; it won’t be a big problem,” Lukashenko added.
“We’re not rushing to draw any conclusions, but we can definitively state that this is a drone of Ukrainian origin. This is a Ukrainian drone,” he stated. Lukashenko reported that the Ukrainian side responded to the allegations by stating that such drones can be purchased by various individuals.
It should be noted that a number of experts believe that the attack on the bus was a Russian provocation.
