India and France have agreed to a “special global strategic partnership,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced. The two leaders reached this agreement during talks in Nice.

Modi described the recent talks with French President Emmanuel Macron as “exceptionally productive.” According to him, these discussions have taken relations between the two countries to a new level.

“Given the long-standing friendship between our countries, we have decided to take our relations to a new level by establishing a special global strategic partnership,” the Indian Prime Minister wrote on social media platform X. “Our talks covered ways to deepen cooperation in key sectors such as defense, technology, space, security, counterterrorism, innovation, and much more.”

In addition, Narendra Modi noted that the countries agreed to begin cooperation on economic security issues to ensure more resilient supply chains for mineral resources and technologies.
