Putin Spoke With Trump By Phone

The Russian dictator congratulated the U.S. president on his anniversary.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with his American counterpart Donald Trump and congratulated him on his 80th birthday, according to the Kremlin.

Trump was touched by Putin’s congratulations, thanked him, and noted that the Russian president was the first foreign leader to call him today, said presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

“The conversation was friendly and candid and lasted about an hour. If you want the exact time, it was exactly 55 minutes,” he said.

In addition, Trump conveyed greetings to the Russian leader from his wife—U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. Putin, in turn, extended his best wishes to her and highlighted Melania’s role in reuniting Russian and Ukrainian children with their families, Ushakov added.

Putin and Trump last spoke by phone on April 29 at the initiative of the Russian side; the conversation lasted more than an hour and a half.
