On Ukraine and NATO issues.

Britain's King King Charles III speaking to the U.S. Congress made a veiled signal to President Donald Trump and Republicans not to cut aid to Ukraine.

This is reported by Politico.

Speaking before the U.S. Congress, Charles III mentioned Ukraine in the context of the West's support for the U.S. against the backdrop of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Politico believes that in this way the British monarch sent a signal to American President Donald Trump.

The publication notes that "British monarchs convey their political messages in coded form and the mention of 9/11 from Charles' mouth deserves an explanation."

"In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, when NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time.... we responded together, as our nations have done for more than a century, side by side," King said.

Politico says "this is a carefully crafted response to Trump and his allies in Congress that shows that, despite the president's repeated statements in recent weeks, NATO did indeed assist America in a time of need."

The publication points out that Karl intends to visit the 9/11 memorial site in New York City, "so the terrorist attacks that occurred there nearly 25 years ago are extremely relevant to him."

Politico notes that the British king is expressing a very different position than Trump, who has continuously criticized Ukraine and its president Vladimir Zelensky, with whom Charles has had numerous private meetings in recent years.

The king's remarks come amid changes in US policy regarding further support for Kiev, particularly after the Donald Trump administration cut military aid to Ukraine.
