The British monarch's speech drew a standing ovation.

Britain's King King Charles III urged allies to remain united and determined in supporting Ukraine during a speech to the US Congress. He emphasized that the current war in Europe, which Russia has unleashed, requires the same determination that the West has shown in the most difficult historical moments.

King Charles III also recalled the joint actions of allies after the 9/11 attacks and in previous wars. The British monarch's words were quoted by Sky News.

The king emphasized that Britain and the U.S. had acted "side by side" during the two world wars, the Cold War and the conflict in Afghanistan. It is the same "unwavering resolve" he said is needed now to defend Ukraine.

"The same steadfastness that Americans and Britons have shown during the two world wars, the Cold War, in Afghanistan and in the moments that have defined our common security is needed to defend Ukraine and its brave people to ensure a truly just and lasting peace," said Charles III.

Karl also drew a historical parallel to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack, noting the joint U.S. and U.K. fight against threats.

"We stood with you then. And we stand with you now," the king said, addressing U.S. lawmakers.

As seen in the footage, the king's mention of Ukraine drew a standing ovation in the Congressional chamber.

The king's remarks came amid a shift in U.S. policy on further support for Kiev, particularly after the Donald Trump administration cut military aid to Ukraine.

Karl III, who has been supporting Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, actually urged allies not to cut aid and to remain united in the face of common challenges.

He also emphasized that the longstanding US-UK partnership remains the foundation of Western security.

Charles III's visit to the United States was the first state visit by a British monarch since 2007, when Elizabeth II visited the country.

The four-day program of the trip included visits to Washington, D.C., New York and Virginia. The centerpiece was the king's address to Congress - Charles III became only the second British monarch to address U.S. lawmakers since Elizabeth II in 1991.
