A Fire Unexpectedly Broke Out At Rosneft's Kuibyshev Oil Refinery In Samara

On the night of September 23, a large-scale fire broke out again in an industrial area in Samara, Russia. There are reports of a second fire on the grounds of the Kuybyshev Oil Refinery, which had been struck by drones the night before.

The Kuybyshev Oil Refinery caught fire again for unknown reasons last night. This was reported by OSINT channels, according to “Focus”.

“There’s another fire in the industrial zone of the Kuybyshevsk Oil Refinery in the Samara Region, which was bombed yesterday morning. Whether this is related to new ‘strikes’ remains unknown,” analysts write.

Footage of the fire on the refinery’s grounds has also appeared online. They show thick black smoke rising above the refinery and spreading over the city.

Judging by the footage, the fire at the refinery flared up again in the middle of the night. As of 6:00 a.m., according to monitoring channels, it was still raging.

It is worth noting that around 2:30 a.m., local Telegram channels in Samara reported a loud siren in the region. Additionally, Samara Airport announced the “Carpet” plan: “Rosaviatsiya” imposed restrictions on aircraft landings and takeoffs. There were reports of a threat of drones in the area, but no information about explosions has been received. As of this writing, Russian authorities have not commented on the renewed fire at the refinery.

The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery is part of Rosneft and is considered one of the largest oil refineries in this region of Russia. According to data from public sources, its capacity is 7 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
