Ukraine Has Acquired Its "Nuclear Weapons"

What Long-Range Drones Could Do to Cities in the North of the Russian Federation.

I would like to congratulate Ukraine on acquiring “nuclear weapons.” That’s right—without any grandiose statements or sensational media coverage, Kyiv quietly and modestly conducted tests of a “nuke.” On September 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully struck the Novourengoy and Purovsky plants in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. To do so, Ukrainian drones covered a record distance behind enemy lines—more than 3,000 kilometers.

To appreciate the magnitude of this achievement, one must understand the climatic conditions under which Russians work in the remote regions of the Russian Federation, where temperatures drop below minus 10 starting in October and can reach as low as minus 50 in December and January.

In such cities, due to permafrost, all utilities (from heating to sewer systems) are laid on the surface, and in winter they must be constantly heated. If a city’s heating source were to be disabled, the consequences for the population and businesses within a single day would be no less severe than those of a nuclear attack.

Putin’s regime has the audacity to frequently threaten Ukraine with a harsh winter, but in reality, after Ukraine acquired weapons capable of striking targets over 3,000 km away, two to three dozen cities beyond the Urals—along with all of NOVATEK’s liquefied natural gas production plants—may not survive the winter.

Therefore, increasing the flight range of Ukrainian drones is a rather serious step toward victory.
