An Oil Refinery In Moscow—which Supplies 40% Of The Russian Capital’s Fuel—is On Fire

The Moscow Oil Refinery is one of Russia's largest enterprises.

As a result of nighttime drone attack in Moscow, the Gazpromneft-MNPZ oil refinery caught fire.

According to ASTRA’s analysis of eyewitness footage, the oil refinery in Moscow was among the targets of the nighttime attack. The mayor of the Russian capital confirmed the attack on one of the plant’s facilities.

The Moscow Oil Refinery (Gazpromneft-MNPZ JSC) is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, located in the Kapotnya district of Moscow. Its refining capacity is 11 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

The plant supplies about 40% of Moscow’s fuel market and meets 70% of the Moscow region’s demand for gasoline and jet fuel.

Residents of the Moscow region and Moscow reported numerous explosions throughout the night—the refinery was just one of the facilities targeted.

As a reminder, that same night, explosions were already heard near Moscow due to a drone attack—a series of explosions and drone swarms flying in several directions were recorded, and a fire likely broke out in a warehouse complex in the village of Sofino.

Fire Point stated that its FP-1 strike drones destroyed a warehouse complex in the Moscow region—according to preliminary information, the facilities belonged to the company “Modern Warehouse Technologies.”

In addition, Moscow had already reported “one of the largest” attacks in years by Ukrainian drones—that incident referred to a strike on the night of September 18.
