The German leader has spoken publicly for the first time about the incidents involving drones of unknown origin that were detected near the Ukrainian “Ruslan” aircraft.

According to him, the investigation is ongoing, and its results will be announced shortly.

Merz made it clear that law enforcement agencies are continuing to identify those involved in the incident. He also hinted that Berlin has information that it is not yet ready to disclose, as this requires reliable confirmation.

“We will make this information public shortly,” the German chancellor promised.

Against the backdrop of recent events, he noted that Germany is increasingly becoming a target of hybrid attacks.

That is precisely why Merz emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to its key political principles: Germany must remain a secure nation, strengthen its defense capabilities, and deter potential aggressors.

The Chancellor stressed that those responsible for hybrid attacks must be held accountable, though he did not specify what punishment might be imposed on those involved in the incident in Leipzig.

He also promised that no attacks or intimidation would be able to stop the aid and support that Berlin is providing to Ukraine.
