The President of Ukraine also reported on negotiations with the United States.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the situation on the front lines, far-reaching sanctions, and strikes against Russia have created a “very toxic atmosphere” around Vladimir Putin. The Ukrainian head of state made this statement in an address on July 22, the transcript of which was published by his press service.
According to him, Putin’s inner circle already realizes that the dictator himself is responsible for starting and continuing the war.
“Right now, of course, the situation on the front lines, the situation with our long-range sanctions, and the mid-range strikes are creating a new atmosphere around Putin—a very toxic atmosphere. He alone is the reason the war began and continues. Putin alone is the reason for the losses suffered by the Russian people,” the president stated.
Zelenskyy asserts that Putin’s inner circle understands this and is “signaling” this to Ukraine and its partners.
At the same time, Ukraine is continuing its diplomatic efforts to end the war. In particular, as Zelenskyy reported, on July 22, he, together with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kirill Budanov, and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Kislitsa held talks with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump—Steve Whitecoff and Jared Kushner.
“We are not giving up on our efforts to end this war; the main thing is that the Russians are truly ready to end the war,” Zelenskyy added.
