Drones Attack Russia: Two Major Oil Refineries Hit At Once

"High-value" targets in the Krasnodar and Rostov regions of the Russian Federation have been struck.

On the night of August 25, explosions were heard in several regions of Russia explosions amid a drone attack. Online reports suggest possible strikes on oil refineries in the Krasnodar and Rostov regions of the Russian Federation, according to "Focus".

In the Krasnodar Region, drones may have struck the large Afipsky Oil Refinery last night, which has a design capacity of over 6 million metric tons of oil per year. This was reported by OSINT channels.

“Afipsky, Krasnodar Krai. Local residents are reporting explosions and attacks on the Afipsky oil refinery,” analysts write.

Footage of the attack on the facility has also been shared online. The videos show a bright glow and smoke rising after the explosions.

At the same time, as of this writing, local authorities had not commented on the attacks on the region. The Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters did not issue a warning about the threat of drone attacks until around 3:00 a.m.

In addition, on the night of August 25, drones also attacked the Rostov Region of the Russian Federation. According to analysts, the city of Novoshakhtinsk was targeted.

OSINT sources suggest that drones may also have struck a local oil refinery in Novoshakhtinsk. However, there was no official confirmation of this information at the time of publication.

It is worth noting that the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant is the largest oil refinery in southern Russia (in the Rostov Region), which began operations in 2009. This refinery has a design capacity of up to 7.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year and is a key facility in the region’s fuel infrastructure. In addition, the plant plays an important role in supplying the Russian military with fuel and lubricants.
