The dictator of the Russian Federation was brought to Kazan.

Vladimir Putin appeared in public for the first time in nearly a year, accompanied by soldiers in camouflage. A video was posted on Telegram on June 17 by “Agency”.

Putin appeared on the street in Kazan, where the Russia–ASEAN summit had begun.

Journalists noted that he has repeatedly resorted to this tactic, appearing before the public “during difficult times for himself.” They recalled that Putin’s first public appearance following the coronavirus pandemic took place almost immediately after the mutiny led by the founder of the internationally recognized criminal organization, the Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin, who has since passed away.

This time, his address to the Russian people took place against the backdrop of the Kremlin leader’s falling approval ratings and the setbacks suffered by Russian occupiers on the front lines in Ukraine, the media emphasized. Journalists also speculated that the Russian president is attempting to convince the world that Russians still support him and that no discontent is brewing in Russia. At the same time, his “entourage” likely suggests the opposite.

“Putin’s appearance in public also appears to be a demonstration that the president still feels safe on the streets. At the same time, he is accompanied not only by bodyguards in plain clothes, but also by soldiers in camouflage and equipped with special gear,” the post states.

This is the Kremlin leader’s first regional trip this year, the media noted. The author of the post added that the last time the Kremlin leader visited the regions was in November of last year, emphasizing that there had not been such long breaks even during the COVID pandemic.
