This could have some very unexpected consequences for Russians.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov predicts that the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula will soon find itself isolated due to strikes by Ukrainian drones. He made this statement in an interview with the YouTube channel PRESSING.
“The isolation of Crimea using drones is underway. And in the near future, it appears that Crimea will become an island. This could lead to very unexpected consequences for Russians. I can’t say anything more,” the defense minister stated.
Fedorov noted that in the first four months of 2026, Kyiv purchased 300% more Middle Strike drones—which Ukraine regularly uses to strike the Azov region—than it did in all of 2025.
“What we did back then is now beginning to pay off,” the minister said. “We announced a logistical lockdown. This provides additional direct funding to units that use Middle Strike drones. While procuring hundreds of thousands of Middle Strike drones, we are simultaneously allocating funds to units that know how to quickly deploy and procure them.
In other words, hell is breaking loose for the Russians—a situation that is very difficult to cope with. And we have this window of opportunity. Logistics are being cut off, Crimea is being isolated. And this is having an impact in the east. There is a direct correlation between the intensity of our strikes on logistics and the number of assault operations taking place on the front lines.”
