Salary expectations didn't match.
Minsk branch of BelZhD applied to an intermediary company with a request to recruit migrant workers from Nepal and Pakistan, according to the documents published by "Community of Railwaymen of Belarus". We are talking about the vacancies of track fitters, station workers and washer-cleaners of rolling stock, while the requirement of knowledge of the Russian language in the list of conditions is absent.
It is noted that last fall BelZhD considered the involvement of migrant workers inexpedient, pointing out in internal documents on the possible risks for the teams, additional costs and questionable economic effect. However, according to the sources, the approach to the issue has changed significantly in less than a year.
According to the published materials, Minsk branch of the railroad sent a request to "Stanoprint International" LLC, registered in March 2026, with a request to select foreign workers for positions that do not require high qualifications. The list includes 20 track fitters, 8 station workers and 8 rolling stock cleaners. Russian language skills are specified as an optional condition.

The negotiations became complicated at the stage of discussing labor remuneration. BelZhD offered a salary of 950-980 rubles, but the mediator stated that it was impossible to find workers from South Asia for such sums. In response, they demanded at least 1,500 rubles "per hand", as well as guarantees of overtime employment.
The submitted commercial proposal states that the total cost per worker could be about 2,900-3,200 rubles, including flight, accommodation, medical insurance, paperwork and other related costs.
The document separately describes the "advantages" of attracting workers from Nepal and Pakistan, including high labor discipline, low conflict and dependence on the employer.
