Is there a fracture coming?
The Ukrainian Defense Forces' strikes on the logistics of Russian troops in the south have actually caused the occupants a situation that can be described as a "myocardial infarction." This assessment was voiced on the air of "Ukrainian Radio" by Pavel Lakiychuk, head of security projects at the Globalistics Center "Strategy 21".
According to him, the situation at the front directly depends on the state of enemy logistics. The expert recalled the well-known principle: tactics wins the battle, and logistics - the war. And it is in the southern direction that the Russian army is now facing increasing difficulties with supplies.
Lakiychuk noted that the Ukrainian forces are systematically striking at the key transportation artery linking the occupied south with the territory of the Russian Federation. We are talking not only about the Kerch Bridge, but also about the entire logistical system as a whole - road and railroad communication, ferry crossing, as well as maritime transportation between Novorossiysk, Temryuk, Feodosia and Sevastopol.
The consequences of these strikes are already tangible even in the civilian sector of occupied Crimea. According to the expert, there are problems with fuel on the peninsula, and the shortage of gasoline concerns not only military needs.
To compensate for the losses, the Russians have created an alternative route - the so-called "Tavrida-2". If "Tavrida-1" is a highway from Kerch to Simferopol, the new logistical corridor passes through Temryuk, Mariupol, Berdyansk, Melitopol and Dzhankoy. The occupiers tried to actively develop there both railroad and automobile communication.
But, according to Lakiychuk, Ukrainian forces have also taken up the defeat of this artery. And now it is not only about the work of special services or long-range means of defeat.
"There they (the occupants - note) tried to develop both the railroad and road routes. And it is not enough that our strategic forces, i.e. the SBU, the Defense Ministry's GUR, the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces have pounced on them, but the defeat of this route is already becoming a linear task," the analyst said.
The expert drew attention to the statements made by the commander of the 3rd Army Corps, Andriy Biletskyy, regarding the control over logistics routes near Mariupol. This, in his opinion, indicates that the Russians' second strategic artery is actually under attack as well.
"...when Biletsky says that the corps is taking control of logistics, this indicates that the second artery has also been cut. In fact, this is already such a concrete "myocardial infarction" in the south. And as a result of strikes on logistics, and not only, we have a somewhat better situation in the southern direction," the expert believes.
As a result, the situation for the occupation troops in the south is becoming increasingly difficult. Lakiychuk believes that the current supply problems may be one of the signs of a gradual breakthrough in this direction.
At the same time, the situation in eastern Ukraine remains much more difficult. There, the Russian army has more opportunities for maneuver and alternative supply routes, so it is very difficult to cut the logistics. That is why, according to the expert, the enemy remains active in Donetsk region, where its main offensive direction is concentrated.
"Historically, you can't cut one highway and that's it. There are possibilities of bypass, and it is much more difficult to cope with it. And it is also because of this that the enemy in the east has more success. Well, and it's the same direction of the main strike. The direction of the main blow they have is directed to the north-west of the Donetsk region, and the auxiliary - in the south, in the Zaporizhzhya direction", - explained the analyst.
