"Russians Relaxed": The AFU Began Preparations To Destroy The Crimean Bridge

Ukraine is taking back control of the peninsula's skies.
Explosions have been heard in temporarily occupied Crimea: the Air Force of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, which was used as one of the key control organs after the destruction of the main headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, is reported to have been hit. Explosions were also heard in Simferopol, where Russian air defense forces were operating.
What is now known about the results of the AFU strikes on the occupiers' facilities in Crimea? How serious can the defeat of the Air Force headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet be?
This is the question Charter97.org asked to the AFU colonel in reserve, military expert and flight instructor Roman Svitan:
- The attack involved several dozen drones, plus Storm Shadow missiles on Sevastopol. It was a combined attack on several targets at once. The strike was large-scale, primarily against military facilities in Sevastopol, mainly operational control facilities.
- We are talking about the fleet headquarters, financial management and other such facilities. Several dozen drones were shot down, at least two dozen. They were covering the missiles' approach.
The Russians relaxed and thought only the drones would go in. But missiles came in at extremely low altitudes and hit some of the buildings. That's already certain. Now the so-called losses are being calculated, but it has already been confirmed that the missile strike hit several buildings at the level of the fleet headquarters and financial institutions of the occupation authorities.
A part of the drones, of course, also passed. Others were shot down already over the city, and they fell where they hit, including buildings. This is already combat destruction work. Within twenty-four hours, the AFU General Staff will probably confirm the direct hits. But what we are talking about now is still coming from Russian publics.
- Strikes on occupied Crimea have become almost commonplace. Can we say that the AFU actually control the sky over the peninsula, and what threat does this pose to the Russian army?
- The sky over Crimea is not completely controlled yet. If the AFU drones are shot down, it means that the occupants still have air defense means. The direction towards the Kerch bridge is especially heavily covered.
Now we can say that the AFU more or less control the west of Crimea. This is the western coast to a depth of several dozen kilometers, possibly up to about 100 kilometers. This zone includes the north of Crimea, the Armenian and Dzhankoy directions, the west and southwest, as well as the Sevastopol direction, which reaches Simferopol.
Basically, we can say that in the sky the AFU control the entire western Crimea. Now the combat work is underway to establish control over all of Crimea and all of its airspace. This process will be long, because the Russians are trying to completely block Crimea, as well as Moscow, and are very quickly restoring their air defense systems.
That is why we constantly hear about strikes on Russian air defense systems in Crimea, on anti-aircraft missile systems and locators of the RF radio-technical forces.
- What targets in Crimea could be next for the AFU? Can we expect the issue of the Crimean bridge to be finally resolved?"
- The targets will definitely be locators and SAMs, that is, anything that lights up like Christmas trees. The fight for air superiority will continue. It has not been achieved yet, but this is the goal.
- Military facilities will also be targets. Now in Crimea there are about 150 such facilities deployed by the Russians. They are mostly stationary. These are still old Soviet military facilities, which we know very well because we were there ourselves. We know their location and understand how to approach them.
First of all, these will be bays associated with the Black Sea Fleet locations, where it is still somehow present. They will also be oil depots, which are still there, and airfields. There are still a lot of such facilities: Kacha, Saki, Belbek, all the way to the Kerch direction.
All these are preparatory operations for the destruction of the Kerch bridge. Because until we completely destroy the Crimean air defense system and gain air superiority over Crimea, we will not reach the Kerch bridge.
