The Estonian foreign minister revealed the details.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that the European Union has already started developing the 21st package of sanctions against the aggressor country Russia. This is reported by ERR.
He noted that the new sanctions package will concern Russian energy carriers.
"The most critical, undoubtedly, are the future sanctions packages. The 20th sanctions package has been adopted, the 21st is being prepared, and it will be quite tough, especially with regard to energy carriers," Tsahkna emphasized.
On April 23, the EU Council adopted the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, which includes 120 new persons and entities. It is the largest sanctions package in the past two years and provides for economic restrictions on key sectors that fuel Russia's war against Ukraine.
In particular, the package contains the basis for a future ban on the maritime transportation of Russian crude oil and oil products. The application of these bans will still be discussed with the G7 countries.
On April 25, China's Ministry of Commerce announced a "strong protest" over the inclusion of Chinese companies in the EU's 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The sanctions package includes Chinese companies accused of supplying dual-use goods or weapons systems to the Russian military-industrial complex.
