The U.S. president said there is a split in Tehran's leadership.
US President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire with Iran.
This was reported by Charter97.org quoting Truth Social Donald Trump.
The reason for the truce extension
Trump said Pakistan (Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif) asked the US to refrain from attacking Iran to give Iranian leaders time to develop a "unified proposal."
"Given that Iran's government is seriously divided, and at Pakistan's request, we have been asked to hold off on attacks until their leaders can develop a unified proposal," Trump wrote.
Iran refuses to negotiate
The previous truce was set to expire on April 22. The US had planned a new round of talks in Pakistan for tomorrow (April 22), but Iran has never publicly confirmed its participation.
Iranian state media are already reporting Tehran's final rejection of the dialog, calling the talks a "waste of time."
