The Ukrainian Air Force has received another battery of German IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile systems, which have already been put into service. This was reported by German Aid to Ukraine citing sources.

It is noted that this is the second IRIS-T SLM system transferred to Ukraine in 2026. In total, according to the publication, Ukraine has 11 such systems.

The publication added that Ukraine is set to receive another IRIS-T SLM battery by the end of 2026. The same number of systems were transferred to Ukraine last year as well.

According to Defense Express, the IRIS-T SLM can intercept aerial targets at ranges of up to 40 km and altitudes of up to 20 km. This provides Ukraine with an effective means of shooting down Russian jet-powered drones flying at high altitudes.

Analysts also noted that each battery includes at least two IRIS-T SLS launchers, which can shoot down threats at altitudes of up to 6 km and at ranges of up to 12 km. However, this could increase the consumption of anti-aircraft missiles.

In addition, analysts noted that Diehl Defence, which manufactures the IRIS-T, has promised to increase production of the IRIS-T family of missiles in the near future.
