"It's A 9/11 Scenario": Flydubai's Co-pilot Planned To Crash The Plane Into A Skyscraper

Israeli intelligence agencies have put forward their version of events.

Israeli intelligence agencies believe that the co-pilot of Flydubai plane flying from the UAE to Israel attempted to seize control in order to crash the plane into a skyscraper in Tel Aviv. This was The Telegraph reported this, citing three informed sources. “It is believed to be a scenario similar to 9/11, in which the co-pilot kills the pilot and crashes the plane on Israeli territory along with all the passengers, most of whom are Israelis,” one of them said.

On the morning of September 30, the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after the co-pilot attacked the captain. During the incident, the co-pilot stabbed his colleague several times with a pocket knife, after which the plane began a sharp descent. In 37 seconds, the plane lost about 4,600 meters in altitude and sent a “unauthorized intrusion” signal, which is typically used in the event of a hijacking.

Passenger Yaniv Hayun told The Telegraph that during the incident, he burst into the cockpit and saw the co-pilot flying the plane. “I grabbed the terrorist, put him in a headlock, and first of all dragged him out,” he said. After that, Hayun took control of the plane himself for a short time. Then two other pilots on board took over the controls and landed the plane in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that an investigation is underway into a plot aimed at “crashing the plane along with everyone on board.” However, he did not directly label the incident a terrorist attack. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz called the incident “an attempted jihadist attack.”

After the plane landed, Saudi Arabian authorities arrested the co-pilot. He is believed to be an Omani citizen. His identity, motives, and intentions have not yet been officially confirmed.

Flydubai stated that the motive behind the incident is under investigation and urged people not to draw “premature conclusions.”
