Dancing To "Lysy" On A Street In Minsk Has Garnered Over A Million Views

Dancing came to Belarus from the Caucasus.

The comical dance “Karapet” was very popular throughout the 20th century. The name “Bald” stuck to this dance because that particular word was frequently played upon in the lyrics.

The dance itself came to Belarus from the Caucasus, and its music and very name feature Armenian motifs.

It is a partner dance performed in a circle. It consists of two parts: the first is a side step, and the second is a spin with a partner.

A video showing musicians performing “Lysy” on Music Alley in Minsk in 2016, while ordinary people dance, has garnered over a million views on YouTube.
