Media Reports: Hockey Referee Detained On Suspicion Of Murdering A Pregnant Woman In Minsk

According to Tribuna.com, a 38-year-old hockey referee Alexei Gavrilenko has been detained on suspicion of murdering 43-year-old pregnant Minsk woman who had gone missing Tatyana Martishchenko; Alexei Gavrilenko, a 38-year-old hockey referee, was detained.

Alexei Gavrilenok is the son of former Belarusian national team player and goalkeeper Alexander Gavrilenok. The Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation’s website has already removed Gavrilenko Jr.’s profile from its site.

The woman’s murder came to light on September 11. She had been missing since September 8.

A report of the woman’s disappearance was filed with the police by her daughter two days after the murder. Within 24 hours, the suspect was identified and detained. A criminal case has been opened against him.

Alexei Gavrilenok played for Belarus’s youth national teams and also competed in the Under-20 World Championship (2006–2007 season). From 2008 to 2015, he played for “Brest,” where he ended his playing career.

His father, goaltender Alexander Gavrilenok, played for the Belarus national team from 1992 to 1999. He appeared in 17 games and allowed 39 goals.
