The number of convicts serving in the Russian Armed Forces will increase.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law that clarifies the list of articles in the Russian Criminal Code under which a criminal record or ongoing investigation would prevent someone from signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense and going to fight against Ukraine. This was reported by Russian media, according to UNIAN.
The following offenses have been excluded from the list of crimes that would prevent the occupiers from going to the front:
minor and moderate offenses;
certain crimes related to the trafficking of weapons and explosives, violations of safety regulations, as well as certain types of military and transportation offenses.
At the same time, individuals with a criminal record or who are under investigation for offenses related to pedophilia, terrorism, treason, espionage, sabotage, extremism, extortion, and a number of other serious crimes against the state and public safety.
The relevant law has been published on the legal acts website and has already entered into force.
