Axios: Trump Is Skeptical Of Putin

The U.S. president had raised the possibility of abandoning the "Anchorage" agreement.

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke during the G7 summit about increasing pressure on Russia and even suggested that he might renege on the agreements reached in Alaska (specifically, in Anchorage).

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Axios.

According to two officials who attended the G7 summit last week, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Russian dictator Putin during the summit and even hinted that he might renege on the “Anchorage agreements.”

As Axios reports, under these agreements, the U.S. accepted Russia’s demands that, as part of the deal, Russia would control the Donbas.

As for the G7 meeting, one of the officials said that there are doubts in Europe that the American leader will actually take any steps to put pressure on Russia.

“Trump was skeptical about everything related to Putin and talked about putting pressure on Russia, but other leaders don’t believe he’ll actually do anything,” the official said.

It should be noted that Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G7 summit, but spoke with Putin beforehand, and after the summit stated that Ukraine is currently handling the war quite well.
