The countries exchanged land parcels of equal area.

Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have exchanged border territories as part of a border demarcation project. This was announced by the press secretary of the Kyrgyz president, Askat Alagozov, on Facebook.

Uzbekistan transferred two villages inhabited by ethnic Kyrgyz to Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz side transferred land plots of equivalent area to Uzbekistan. According to Alagozov, about 2,500 people live in these villages. The registration of local residents will begin in these settlements so that they can obtain Kyrgyz citizenship.

To build a road from the village of Sai to the village of Tayan, the countries exchanged land plots of equal value totaling 236 hectares, Alagozov said. Thanks to the project, residents of the Batken Region will be able to travel from Aidarken to Batken much faster—the distance will be reduced from 255 km to 55 km.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan proposed to Kazakhstan an exchange of territories to build a road in the area of the city of Tokmok. The Kyrgyz president’s press secretary noted that the project is necessary for the construction of a toll highway approximately 150 km long—from Almatinskaya Street to the city of Kemin.
