Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attack on the Tyumen Oil Refinery (TNPZ) on June 20. According to him, new drones from Fire Point were used in the strike. “Our long-range strikes have reached Russia’s Tyumen region. The target was an oil refinery—more than 2,000 kilometers from our national border. Effective. The new, upgraded FP drones have proven their worth. Now they can reach targets 3,000 kilometers away,” noted Zelenskyy.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported the “destruction” of the Tyumen Oil Refinery, formerly known as the Antipinsky Oil Refinery. The extent of the damage is being assessed. According to the agency, the Tyumen Oil Refinery has a capacity of up to 9 million metric tons per year and is one of the largest oil refineries in Western Siberia. The refinery produces diesel fuel, gasoline, bitumen, and fuel oil. The General Staff states that part of the output is used to meet the needs of the Russian army. The governor of the Tyumen Region Alexander Moor confirmed the attack on the refinery but assured that it had been repelled and the facility had not been damaged. At the same time, local residents reported a major fire in the eastern part of Tyumen, where the facility is located.
