The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point announced the successful completion of the first flight tests of its new FP-7.x anti-aircraft missile. It is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the scarce Western Patriot and SAMP-T systems. This is reported in an article by the Financial Times.
According to the publication, the missile is designed to intercept various air targets, including ballistic ones. The project also includes the development of an air defense system called Freyja, which will consist of detection radars and a command-and-control system.

Ukraine plans to obtain certain components of the system from European partners. Fire Point has discussed cooperation with a number of defense companies, including Hensoldt, Thales, Leonardo, and Kongsberg.
Fire Point co-founder and chief designer Denis Shtilerman noted that the project’s further implementation will depend on the pace of cooperation with Western partners.
