Britain Imposes 'some Of The Toughest' Sanctions Against Russian Federation

A response to Putin's information warfare.

Britain has imposed sanctions against 85 individuals and entities linked to Russia, the British government's press office reported.

"Today's measures represent some of the toughest the UK has ever taken to tackle [Russian activities]. <...> This latest package of sanctions aims to crack down on malicious information warfare campaigns," the statement said.

The UK imposed restrictions on 49 people who collaborated with the Social Design Agency (ASP) - authors, translators and videographers. The ASP was funded by Russian authorities to carry out campaigns that the British side characterizes as "misleading propaganda."

London also said the ASP developed campaigns that it assessed were "almost certainly commissioned by the Russian presidential administration." Among them are mentioned the creation of "pro-Russian organizations" in Armenia and attempts to influence the change of power. In addition, the British side links the ANO "Dialogue" organization to the presidential administration and Russian intelligence services, pointing to its involvement in campaigns to influence Armenia's domestic politics.
