Details.
The attack by the AFU Special Operations Forces on the location of the Russian Iskander complexes in occupied Crimea proved the new capabilities of Ukrainian drones. They not only hit the target, but also penetrated a protective shelter.
This was reported by Defense Express on Wednesday, April 29.
The Russians stored Iskander operational-tactical complexes in hiding places from Soviet R-5 medium-range ballistic missiles, and that was the difficulty of the SDF's task.
The location was known before - Resistance Movement activists have repeatedly recorded where Russian missiles are launched from. But it was impossible to hit the Iskanders because they were in shelters with dimensions of 45×27 and 25×18 meters. The thickness of concrete on such Soviet shelters is 40-60 cm, and there was also an additional layer of soil on top.
But in the end Ukrainian drones overcame this obstacle, Defense Express explained - thanks to the increase in combat parts, which began to be installed on drones of the middle strike class.
In particular, FP-2 with a 105-kilogram combat part was used. At the same time, Fire Point announced plans to increase the warhead to 150 kg by moving the fuel tanks to the wing.
On the night of April 28, drones of the middle-strike units of the AFU Special Operations Forces hit a storage site for Iskander operational-tactical missile systems in Russian-occupied Crimea. According to the military, the hidden equipment was located on the territory of a former missile base near the village of Ovrazhki, 40 kilometers east of Simferopol.
