"Rosatom Says It Will Sign An Agreement On The Construction Of The Third Unit Of BelNPP

Russian state corporation Rosatom intends to prepare the legal framework and conclude contracts for the construction of the third power unit at the Belarusian nuclear power plant in 2026. This was announced by the general director of the company Alexei Likhachev. Earlier, the Lukashists had already announced the decision.

Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev spoke about plans for the third unit at BelNPP on April 20 at an industrial exhibition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

- In this big program of nuclear power development [in Belarus], the next step <�...> is the third unit at the first nuclear power plant in Astravets. <�...> This year it is necessary, in addition to the technical appearance, to go out and conclude all the agreements in the economy and create the necessary legal framework in terms of bilateral intergovernmental relations. We will solve such a task," Likhachev said.

According to him, this will be the next unit with a VVER-1200 reactor, Rosatom's flagship export project.
