One of Russia's key oil facilities has been hit.
A major fire at an oil refinery continues to rage in Russia's Tuapse after an overnight Ukrainian drone attack.
According to Reuters, the strike hit the port area and the refinery, with authorities in Krasnodar Krai confirming the attack. It is one of Russia's key oil facilities.
Monitoring channels Supernova+, Exilenova+ and ASTRA write that the fire quickly intensified: three tanks and an oil loading pier were previously reported burning, now there are reports of another tank on fire.
According to the published footage, a dense column of black smoke has risen above the facility, and the fire is probably already spreading to neighboring tanks. Russian authorities confirmed the attack, but did not disclose the extent of damage to the refinery. The AFU General Staff has not yet commented on the strike.
This is a sensitive blow to oil infrastructure
The Tuapse refinery is part of Rosneft and is among Russia's major oil refineries. Reuters has previously noted that Tuapse is an important southern port and oil product export hub, and the refinery itself has already been the target of attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.
