Data on the Russian economy do not inspire optimism, writes Alexei Klimuk of Alfa Capital and calls for recognition of a steady trend towards a cooling of business activity, which cannot be reversed by budget injections or a reduction in the key rate. Therefore, his expectations for next year are "unhappy": GDP growth "near zero or even lower."
It is even worse.. the energy markets in Europe have found new suppliers, so no Western revenues once the war stops. China and India are used to buying Russian oil at big discounts.. so no big profits there.
Future economic growth is expected to come from high technology like AI. Putin's mobilization scares have resulted in many of the brightest Russians fleeing.. so who is left to lead Russian technology?
Western Companies that used to be in Russia watched their investments be taken over by the Kremlin.. why would anyone want to make the same mistake again? In short the future looks grim if Russia can even make a transition to a peaceful.
