The diesel agreement did nothing for the Kremlin.
Sergey Lavrov , the foreign minister of the aggressor country Russia , stated that there has not yet been a single real step toward rapprochement in relations between Moscow and Washington. He made these remarks on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, according to STERN.de.
In particular, the Russian foreign minister leveled sharp criticism at the U.S. and made it clear that the Kremlin has no reason to expect a softening of American policy.
“In practice, no real progress in relations with the U.S. is visible yet. There is no point in harboring illusions regarding the agreements on diesel fuel,” Lavrov said.
According to him, “fundamental issues” in relations between the two countries remain unresolved.
In addition, he complained that sanctions pressure on Russia shows no signs of easing. Lavrov emphasized that the administration of current U.S. President Donald Trump is extending all restrictions imposed under his predecessor Joe Biden, and is also imposing new sanctions against the Russian oil giants Lukoil and Rosneft.
