A strong response from the Polish foreign minister.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski accused SpaceX CEO Elon Musk of interfering in the politics of other countries and suggested he fly to Mars. Sikorski made these remarks at a socio-political forum in Łódź.

The Polish foreign minister’s statement came amid reports of restrictions on the operation of the Starlink and Starshield satellite systems in Ukraine.

Sikorski noted that “mixing politics and business usually ends badly.” At the same time, he called Musk a great inventor and wished him “all the best.”

“I hope he flies to Mars,” the minister is quoted as saying TVP Info.

Sikorski also called for ensuring the independence of elections in Poland from “foreign oligarchs.” In this context, the minister mentioned the $200 million Musk donated to the U.S. election campaign.

Responding to a question about technological dependence on the U.S. and reports of Ukraine’s problems accessing Starlink, Sikorski said that European companies are working to develop an alternative to this satellite system.

He also noted that Europe pays for Ukraine’s use of American equipment and technology, including Starlink, and that this is one reason why it has “trump cards up its sleeve.”

Sikorski called for the development of European technologies related to the capability of delivering high-precision strikes over long distances. The Polish foreign minister stated that it is “much easier” to shoot down an aircraft from which a ballistic missile was launched, or to strike a factory producing such munitions, than to shoot down the missile itself in mid-air.
