Romania Proposes The Creation Of A New Security Framework In The Black Sea

This appeal is addressed to all Black Sea countries, except for the Russian Federation.
In light of escalation in the Black Sea by Moscow, which is already attacking civilian commercial vessels off the coasts of third countries, Romania has proposed that Bulgaria approach NATO leadership with a proposal to establish a military command to be rotated among all Black Sea countries, according to UNIAN.
As Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, stated during a televised marathon, the Ukrainian Navy welcomes this initiative. He also commented on the possibility of Ukraine joining this initiative in the future.
“This, of course, is a matter for the distant future. We, for our part, are, of course, in constant contact with our neighbors and partners. As for initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of civilian shipping in our own waters—of course, this can only be welcomed. But in any case, it is entirely logical that a response to the provocations carried out by the Russian Federation must follow at some point,” said Pletenchuk.
He emphasized that this concerns issues of security, logistics, and the export capabilities of these countries.
“Therefore, of course, this issue touches on many areas—not only military, but also political and economic,” the press secretary emphasized.
As a reminder, the Russian military has repeatedly attacked civilian commercial vessels off the coasts of Romania and Bulgaria. Specifically, on October 6, two civilian vessels were attacked by drones in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone, east of Cape St. Athanasius and the city of Byala.
