Major Changes Are Being Implemented At Bangalore Square In Minsk

The route will be completely different.
The traffic pattern at Bangalore Square is set to undergo a radical change soon. Heavy equipment is currently operating in the center of the roundabout, and soon the roundabout and the right turn from Surganov Street will be removed.
The “Park of Friendship of Peoples” metro station is set to open on Bangalore Square in the future, which is why work has been in full swing in that area for quite some time, with utility lines being relocated. As a result, the traffic pattern is being redesigned once again. Details are reported by “Minsk Courier”.
“We plan to implement changes to the traffic organization on Bangalore Square in late November—early December 2026,” Sergey Grechkin, project manager and deputy chief engineer at Minskmetrostroy, told the publication. — Immediately after that, we will begin constructing the platform section and the second entrance hall of the future station. Today, the structures for the first entrance hall are being installed at the roundabout itself, while inside the interchange, the station’s perimeter is being built using the “wall-in-ground” method, and waterproofing is underway. Toward Nekrasov Street, turning loops are being built—we expect to complete this work in early 2027. No other major changes to the transportation or pedestrian infrastructure on M. Bogdanovich Street are currently planned.
According to the new plan, the classic roundabout will no longer exist. The detour route from Orlovskaya Street is already in place: specialists have laid fresh asphalt, painted road markings, designated a new controlled crosswalk, and set up a bus stop in the direction of Nekrasova Street.

The lane-specific traffic patterns have been redesigned:
if you’re coming from Nekrasova Street, you’ll be able to turn onto Orlovskaya Street from the far-right lane, while the other three lanes will be for straight-through traffic only. Further on, at the bend in the road, three lanes will lead traffic toward Kulman Street and another three toward Surganov Street;
When traveling along M. Bogdanovich Street from the direction of Kulman, turning right onto Surganova will be permitted only from the first lane; the other three lanes lead straight ahead only. Immediately past the intersection, the road will widen: three lanes will lead toward Nekrasova and Orlovskaya;
From Surganova Street, drivers will first have to merge into the left lane, and then they will be able to turn right toward Nekrasova Street from three lanes, while the remaining two lanes will lead left toward Kulman Street.
As noted in the announcement, public transportation passengers should also review the map in advance: the “Bangalore Square” stops on Surganova Street in both directions have been moved toward Kuibyshev Street. However, on Orlovskaya Street (when traveling toward L. Karastoyanova), the bus stop will remain in its usual location. Near the intersection of M. Bogdanovich and Surganov Streets, on the side of building No. 102 on M. Bogdanovich Street, a new signalized crosswalk will open in the direction of Nekrasov Street. Beyond it, a pedestrian path will run along the construction site to a new bus stop, which will replace the one currently located closer to building No. 88 on Surganova Street. A new signalized crosswalk has also been built there, closer to Orlovskaya Street. It will no longer be possible to cross M. Bogdanovich Street from Building No. 88 toward Orlovskaya Street, as a construction site will be set up at that location and the work area will be fenced off. However, the pedestrian paths along this building toward Nekrasova Street will remain.
It is not yet known whether Bangalore will return to its usual appearance after the opening of the third metro line, the article emphasizes. In the future, new construction sites will be set up on the square as well as on Surganova Street—for the fourth metro line.
