Lukashenko Said That His Army Would Lose To Neighboring Countries

The dictator reflected on the war.

Lukashenko once again assured that he has no intention of attacking anyone — though he explained this not as a sign of peacefulness, but as a matter of simple self-interest, claiming that going to war with neighbors would be “tantamount to death.” The statement was made on September 11 at the “Obuz-Lesnovsky” combined-arms training ground in the Baranovichi District.

“Some people here are trying to accuse us of allegedly planning to attack someone tomorrow. I’ll say it again: we’re not going to attack anyone; we’re pragmatists. We understand that if we were to attack, say, one of our neighbors, it would be tantamount to suicide. We cannot win a conflict with our ‘monsters’—the states surrounding us. Why, then, would we start a war, to put it bluntly? But we are obligated to defend every centimeter, every millimeter of our land, our people, and ensure our security,” — the dictator declared.

Lukashenko then moved on to his usual topic of “enemy intelligence” near the borders—again without any evidence.

“We periodically detect various kinds of provocations and airspace violations. But that’s not the main point. The main point is that our neighbors are spending billions on arming their armies,” he lamented.

Addressing the military, the leader called on them to be ready “to respond promptly and appropriately if something were to happen,” noting that “the experience of modern armed conflicts shows that the most crucial role in conducting military operations is played by troop command.”

“There can be no resistance, no defense, no offensive—there can be no war without communications. No communications, no troop command—we are doomed,” Lukashenko declared.

He also emphasized that “in a world where information technology, intelligence capabilities, and electronic warfare and jamming are rapidly advancing,” falling behind in this area “is tantamount to death.”
