Belarusian doctors will be able to begin working at private medical centers only after seven years of service at a public institution. The Minister of Economy announced this proposal at a meeting with Lukashenko.

Lukashenko did not like the proposal. On the one hand, he is dissatisfied that “public institutions are becoming a stepping stone for private business.” On the other hand, he does not understand “how the proposed measures will help strengthen the personnel reserves of public healthcare institutions.”

Lukashenko also inquired about pricing in the healthcare sector: “We always say: ‘Let’s have a level playing field and so on.’ But are the conditions really level? I suppose pricing—the cost—is also a factor here.”

Earlier, the dictator had spoken about the shortage of medical professionals. On April 5, Lukashenko called on medical professionals to “complain less and work more”.
