"Magyar" Explained How Ukrainians Differ From Russians
Robert Brovdy

There is a civilizational chasm between the two peoples.

Russia is increasingly shifting the focus of its attacks from the front lines to the rear, striking cities and residential neighborhoods. The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdy (“Madyar”) emphasizes: this is not chaotic brutality, but a deliberate strategy to put pressure on the civilian population, one that the enemy will only intensify. In his column, he explains why the divide between Ukraine and Russia is a clash of civilizations, and what people in the rear should be doing instead of consuming emotional content and social media:

— We are staying strong on the front lines, returning the enemy’s pain to the swamps, and when we remain silent—we do so just as effectively. To civilians, I wish steadfastness and composure—difficult trials lie ahead.

What lies between us and the enemy is not a doctrinal chasm, but a civilizational one: ranging from personal agency (which I wish all Ukrainians would embrace) and values all the way to attitudes toward human life.

Beyond the battlefield, deep within the swamps, we are striking at the enemy’s sources of funding and support for the war and their weapons production. Meanwhile, those bastards are waging massive terror against the civilian population of our homeland. Innocent people are dying and will continue to die, and there is no end in sight.

The enemy will only intensify this strategy of “punishing civilians,” according to a Ukrainian officer:

— Therefore, maintain round-the-clock functional vigilance and composure (instead of consuming emotional content and social media, which exacerbate existing exhaustion) and follow a personally devised and tested algorithm for action in the event of unannounced (or sudden) airstrikes.

May you have nerves of steel and an unshakable spirit. Take care of yourselves and those around you.

And know this—we, too, are striking back, without pause. We are returning the pain to the enemy. And this is not a sprint, but a marathon with serious obstacles—a fateful test of endurance.

I planned a week-long content detox, but only four days have passed. Still, I had to get this out.

We will stand firm.

Moscow will fall.
