The U.S. Has Banned Imports Of Products From 43 Chinese Companies

The companies are suspected of using forced labor by Uyghurs.
The U.S. has banned imports of products from 43 Chinese companies due to alleged violations of the rights of Uyghurs and other minorities, according to Reuters.
The companies’ business sectors range from electronics to food products and metallurgy. They have been added to the list of organizations specified in the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.
A company’s inclusion on the list implies that its goods are produced using forced labor and cannot be imported into the United States unless importers can prove otherwise.
This is the first time the list of these companies has been expanded during the presidency of Donald Trump. The number of companies on the list has now risen from 144 to 187.
According to a U.S. government statement, four companies were added to the list for cooperating with Xinjiang authorities in recruiting, transferring, or receiving Uyghurs and other persecuted groups.
Another 41 companies were added because they source materials from Xinjiang or from organizations linked to Chinese state-run labor programs in that region.
Beijing has previously consistently rejected allegations of forced labor and other abuses against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in Xinjiang Province.
Now, China’s Ministry of Commerce has also condemned these measures as “unjustified unilateral sanctions.” The list was updated a day after a “constructive video call” between trade representatives from both countries.
The ministry also added that China will take the necessary measures to protect its companies.
