The dictator met with the officers.
Lukashenko stated that “Belarusians are peaceful people who do not want war,” and also began accusing the European Union of militarization.
The dictator made these remarks at a ceremony honoring graduates of higher military educational institutions and senior officers, according to BelTA.
“The Belarusian people endured incredible hardships during the years of Nazi occupation and, at a genetic level, reject war. We are peaceful people; we do not want to fight, but we also have no intention of bowing our heads to the enemy,” said the dictator.
According to Lukashenko, the so-called “war party” on the international stage is allegedly seeking to prolong the armed conflict in Ukraine.
“While hypocritically declaring its commitment to peace, the European Union has openly embarked on a course of militarization (which is, in fact, NATO). Billions are being spent on the procurement of offensive weapons. At the same time, an absurd hysteria is being whipped up around an imaginary ‘threat from the east,’” he stated.
“Our alliance with Russia and our commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. I emphasize once again, dear comrades, that no one will send you into this slaughter. We don’t need war; it’s terrible that there is a war in Ukraine. We are advocates of a peaceful resolution to these issues. But, as I said, the international ‘war party’ doesn’t want that,” he added.
