"Some People Were Moaning In Pain But Managed To Get Out On Their Own; Others Were Thrown Out By The Impact."

Details of the fatal accident involving military personnel near Osipovichi.

On the morning of July 24, in accident near Osipovichi, a contract soldier and a conscript were killed when their vehicle overturned, and 14 people were hospitalized. Journalists from "Onliner" visited the scene and uncovered the details.

According to one eyewitness, who arrived at the scene about 10 minutes after the accident, there were about 10 people lying next to the vehicle. Some were moaning in pain but were able to get out of the car on their own. Others, he speculates, were thrown from the vehicle by the impact. He also states that 4–5 people required assistance from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as they were severely pinned under parts of the vehicle. Some were lying face-down in the sand. The victims were also being pulled from the vehicle.

“I saw someone getting an IV right here,” says a resident of one of the nearby buildings. “And they wanted to move one guy, but someone shouted, ‘Don’t touch him—his tailbone is broken!’”

Emergency Ministry personnel declined to make official comments at the scene, but mentioned in passing that the rescue operation was complicated; they had to use specialized tools and carefully consider how to avoid harming the men who were trapped.

The accident occurred at the 12th kilometer of the Osipovichi–Baranovichi highway. “According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the vehicle while turning on the main road. Due to inertia, the car overturned into a ditch,” the Investigative Committee reported. As a result, Contract Service Junior Sergeant A.V. Shabunevich and Conscript Private K.A. Kiba were killed.

The victims were riding in the truck bed. Another 14 people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. The victims were 21 and 26 years old, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A 20-year-old was behind the wheel. A video of the moment of the accident has been released.
