The former Hungarian prime minister and his team were the initiators of the detention of Ukrainian money collectors in March.

Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán personally controlled the work of the republic's security services and should be held accountable for this, current head of government Peter Magyar told X.

"Viktor Orbán personally exercised direct control over law enforcement and intelligence agencies. He could order raids and cancel investigations. He must be held responsible," the Hungarian prime minister wrote.

Earlier this afternoon, the Hungarian publication Telex published a story in which it claimed, citing sources, that the decision to detain Ukrainian money collectors and confiscate funds in March was made by the previous Hungarian government, including Orban personally, and passed to the country's special services and law enforcement agencies for execution.

Telex also sent a request for comment to the former prime minister, but his spokesman Bertalan Havasi responded with a refusal, suggesting to contact "competent authorities."
