The U.S. military intends to launch large-scale attacks on Iran in the coming hours, U.S. President Donald Trump announced. According to him, the new strikes will take place on June 10 and 11. The American president called this a response to the downing of an American Apache helicopter off the coast of Oman.
“We hit them hard yesterday. And we’re going to hit them hard again today. I think we have the right to do so. They shot down an incredible machine,” Trump told reporters (the broadcast was streamed on the White House’s YouTube channel).
At the same time, Donald Trump stated that the peace deal between the U.S. and Iran has been fully agreed upon. “All they have to do is sign the paper,” the U.S. president added. “We want a deal that works. We’ll see how it turns out. “We are really close to a deal,” Mr. Trump noted.
An Apache helicopter was shot down off the coast of Oman on the evening of June 8. Both pilots were rescued. The U.S. blamed Iran. On the night of June 10, U.S. military forces struck Iran in response to the helicopter crash. Subsequently, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had carried out strikes on U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
