What is known about Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi

Reza Pahlavi was born in Tehran on October 31, 1960 and was officially appointed Crown Prince of Iran during his father's coronation in 1967.

In 1978, as a cadet in Iran's Imperial Air Force, Reza moved to the United States to study to become a pilot. The following year, his father was overthrown and the monarchy abolished in the Iranian Revolution led by Ruhollah Khomeini.

In 1980, after his father died in exile in Cairo, Reza Pahlavi proclaimed himself Shah of Iran. He has been actively involved in political activities against the Islamic Republic from abroad.

In 2013, he co-founded the National Council of Iran (INC) and expressed ideological support for Iran's democratic transition.

Pahlavi has repeatedly called for protests against the Islamic Republic and the removal of the current regime from power. He has also advocated that Iran become an ally of the Western world as well as Israel.

He was the main opposition leader during the Iran 2025-2026 protests.
