On his social networks, Wadeful said that today he had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During that conversation, the German minister emphasized that Berlin supports a negotiated solution to the issue.

"As a close ally of the United States, we share the same goal: Iran must fully and credibly renounce nuclear weapons and immediately open the Strait of Hormuz," Wadeful wrote, reporting what he told his Iranian counterpart.

CNN notes that these words from the German foreign minister bring Germany and the United States closer together at a time of diplomatic tension between the countries.
