A Bomb For A 'butcher' General: New Details About A Powerful Explosion In A Russian Military Garrison

A high-ranking Russian officer was eliminated as a result of the assassination attempt.

An explosion occurred in one of the military garrisons of Khabarovsk Krai, which, according to a number of Russian sources, may have been an attempt on Major General Azatbek Omurbekov.

The case concerns the village of Knyaz-Volkonskoye-1, where an explosive device planted in a mailbox on the territory of the unit went off on April 28, writes VChK-OGPU.

An RF officer, a lieutenant colonel commanding a training communications battalion, was killed in the incident, and several others were wounded. There is no precise information about Omurbekov's condition: according to unofficial reports, he may have survived, but there has been no confirmation of this.

Russian official structures have not commented on the situation. Journalists were also unable to contact either the general himself or his family after the information about the explosion appeared.

It is known that in the spring of 2022 Omurbekov headed the 64th Motorized Rifle Brigade, which operated in the Kiev region during the fighting.

It became known earlier that in Moscow there was an assassination attempt on Russian Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev - an unknown person shot him several times in the back. The high-ranking military officer was hospitalized with numerous gunshot wounds.
