Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said he will give up his parliamentary mandate in the new convocation of the country's parliament. According to preliminary information, he may move from Budapest to the United States.
This was reported by Hungarian investigative journalist Sabolcs Pany. According to his information, his daughter and son-in-law live in the States.
What is known
It has been learned that despite Orbán's party, Fidesz, being defeated in the elections, the former prime minister is guaranteed to be on the party list, where he was in first place.
"The mandate I received as list leader is actually my parliamentary mandate from the Fidesz party, so I decided to give it back. Now I am not needed in parliament, but in the reorganization of the national camp," Orban said in a video message published on Facebook.
At the same time, the media outlet, citing its own sources, said that after the resignation of the head of government Viktor Orban plans to flee to the United States. The formal reason will be a trip to the World Cup, but, at the same time, Orban's daughter and son-in-law live in the United States, and US President Donald Trump can provide him with "asylum from prosecution" at home.
We will recall that earlier Viktor Orban announced the decision to give up his parliamentary mandate. His Fidesz party will be transformed, and instead of him it will be headed by Gergei Gulyás.
At the same time, the Hungarian opposition party Tisza, led by future Prime Minister Peter Magyar, won the elections held on April 12. The political force won 141 seats in Hungary's National Assembly instead of the predicted 138. 70.85 percent of voters cast their ballots for Tisza.
