Meloni Went Up Against Trump Again
George Meloni

This time it's because of Putin.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni criticized the US administration's intention to invite Russian ruler Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit in Miami.

Meloni said this in an interaction with the press before the informal meeting of EU leaders in Cyprus, "European Truth" reports.

The head of the Italian government said that now is not the time to make steps towards Putin, but on the contrary - to demand concessions from him.

Meloni also recalled that the US has already made many such steps towards Russia in recent months, but has not seen countermeasures in response.

"As for Putin at the G20 summit, I believe that now is the time when we should ask Putin to make some steps towards him, not to make them ourselves. The Americans, especially over the last few months, have made, shall we say, a few steps towards Russia, and on the other side we have not seen as many steps in return. I believe that now is the time to demand them," the prime minister said.

The United States intends to invite Russian ruler Vladimir Putin to the G20 leaders' summit scheduled for December at President Donald Trump's golf resort in Miami, although the invitation has not yet been sent, according to media reports.
